Weekly Recap Time!

Friday is here! Time to recap everything FrontRunners from the past week. We’ve compiled photos and links to help give a good summary of the happenings of this last week, and we encourage you to explore the post at your own leisure.

*Final reminder that starting this Saturday (April 7th), two important changes will be happening during our Saturday runs. The first is that each run (1, 3, 4, and 5 Mile walks and runs) will be reversed, meaning that you will run the same course, but in the opposite path you normally follow. For the first couple of weeks we will have assigned runners helping everyone stay on track. This is a good way to mix things up for the time being. Second, we are adding an additional run option, which incorporates other exercise… the Cross Training Run. Dominic Paris, our Race Director, is spearheading this and you can read all about the run and how to try it out here (link).

So here we go!

This last week we attended the enjoyed a night in the Marina and at Fleet Feet, had fun at the SF Track & Field Beer Bust at 440, continued Interval Training with SF Track & Field Club, launched the initial build of the new sffr.org website, had another Pride meeting, and enjoyed another Duboce Park Game Night… all in addition to our usual runs!

SFFR Fleet Feet and Marina Pub Crawl Night: On Friday SF FrontRunners were treated to an evening at Fleet Feet Sports in the Marina, where we could get info on healing injuries, proper running techniques, and many other cool topics. We are also treated to running tops and drinks and snacks.

We then headed out on Chestnut Street for food and drinks.

SF Track & Field Beer Bust Fundraiser: On Saturday the Track and Field Club had a beer bust fundraiser at 440 in the Castro. SFFR Members, along with others, had a great time with conversation, drinks, and Track and Field members, of course.

All the earnings from the event go to their upcoming anniversary celebration.

SF Track and Field Club Interval Training: On Sunday, SF Track & Field Club continued interval training at SFSU at 10am, followed by brunch afterwards. For inquiries, Bob Callori can be reached at mens-contact@sffr.org. The Track & Field Club’s 2012 Pride Website is also now open for registration, so head on over if you are interested (link).

New SFFR.org Website: The new SFFR.org website launched on Monday and people began to register and join the new site Tuesday. We encourage everyone to register and join quickly, as it will be the best way to get news from the club. Also remember that if you already paid your dues, you do not need to pay again, and you can use the promo code we provided you with via email earlier this week. If you did not get the code and have renewed please contact Brian Ray at vp@sffr.org.

We also stress that the site will be ever-evolving and that we are already pouring effort and thought into new content for the site, so we will always welcome ideas and feedback.

Pride Meeting: On Thursday we met for another Pride Meeting. We settled on a garment, which we will unveil shortly, and also discussed a possible Sports Basement night the week of the event. As always, we encourage members to attend these meetings and get involved. Plus there is free food at them! You can also check out all info on the 2012 Pride Run on the new website.

Duboce Park Game Night: SFFR members once again attended Game Night at Duboce Park Cafe. They also enjoyed food and drink at the event. Game night is held on the 1st Thursday of every month, so come along!

Movie Night Reminder: Movie night will be happening this evening at Chris Neal's house. For full info on the event, check out the post here (link).

Easter Bonnet Run Reminder: This Saturday is the 2012 SFFR Easter Bonnet Run, which will take place right after our Saturday runs at Stowe Lake. Check here for more info (link).

Member Card Reminder: If you have renewed or signed up for FrontRunners for 2012, you can pick up your card at any Saturday after the runs. You can also arrange for a time to get your card with any of the Board Members or Men’s and Women’s contacts. Please note that we will be printing names for recently renewed/joined members every 2 weeks, so if you have renewed in the last week, you won’t have a card printed until a week from now.

As always, we welcome submissions for events, photos, news articles, and columns.

That covers it for this last week.

Enjoy your weekend and see you at the runs!
