Time for another dose of weekly recap!
This last week we enjoyed our July Women's Run, continued training with the SF Track & Field Club, had our July Board Meeting, and posted another great Runner Bio interview… all in addition to our usual runs!
July Women's Run: We had a good turnout at the Women's Run on Saturday. Everyone ran together and got to chat about the club and one another as we ran the 3 mile course. Thanks to Jules for being our leader for this run!
SF Track and Field Club Interval Training: SF Track coach and SFFR Chris Goodwin is now designing special workout sessions for newbies to slowly introduce them into interval training.

The photo shows regular teammates doing 20meter lunges followed by a 30 meter sprint while Chris explains to new members how to efficiently extend simple leg movements over a series of cones for improving speed.

FrontRunners Daniel Samaniego and Tom Setzer practice their relay handoffs in preparation for the upcoming 5th Annual Pride Meet sponsored by SF Track and Field Club on Sunday, July 22 at Chabot College in Hayward. If you ran track in high school or college and want to join or organize a relay team, you are encouraged to sign up for the Pride Meet's 4X100 or 4X400 relays. The full schedule of events can be found at www.PrideMeet.org (link). Several FrontRunners have already registered for the mile and 5000m events. Online registration closed July 15. For details, contact Bob Callori at callori@sbcglobal.net.
July Board Meeting: The 2012 Board met on Monday to discuss budgets for the coming months, a new member drive in August, and events including the End of the Year Banquet. If you ever have feedback or ideas for the Board or the club in general, send them to board@sffr.org and we'll be happy to discuss them!
Runner Bio Interview - Bruno Olshausen: FrontRunner, Computational Neuroscientist , and Classical Music Lover, Bruno Olshausen, gave us a wonderful Runner Bio interview, which you can read here (link). While you are at it, you can check our all of our other interviews and learn more about your fellow SFFR Members.
Movie Night Reminder: July Movie Night is happening this evening! Full info here (link). Many thanks to John Brown for hosting!
Bagel Brunch Reminder: Steve Benne of Molto Benne Catering (link) will be offering us another delicious Bagel Brunch following the regular Saturday walks/runs! Meet in the Stow Lake area for 2nd circle and brunch (5 dollars per person). See you there!
Important Reminder: On Saturdays, we have been running for 3 months now in the reverse direction of the usual courses. We are now switching back to the traditional directions for each of the runs. We will have someone on each run this weekend to help guide you if you are new or have forgotten the old course.
Member Card Reminder: If you have renewed or signed up for FrontRunners for 2012, you can pick up your card at any Saturday after the runs. Allow for 2 weeks between registering and having your card printed. You can also email vp@sffr.org for a replacement.
As always, we welcome submissions for events, photos, news articles, and columns.
That covers it for this last week.
Enjoy your weekend and see you at the runs!
